Utility bills, I like my AC/Heat, Lights and Electricity. Car Payment, well, I'd rather not have one, but I do drive a nice new car. Cell Phone, used to bug me a lot but I pay a flat fee for everything now so not so surprising when I open that one anymore. The one that always killed me was that darn satellite or cable TV bill (I've tried them both over the years). I won't say I think it's outrageous the prices they charge or go into that rant, they run a business and they're there to make a profit, I'm good with that, but I would pay that bill each and every month and I hardly ever sat down to watch the stupid thing! Then, when I did sit down to watch it, unless I paid another $15 a month on top of the regular bill for a DVR, there wasn't ever anything I wanted to watch on anyway!

So one day I decided to do something about it, I started looking for ways to watch movies online, to watch free movies and maybe even watch new movies online. I found some random sites to download free movies online which was neat, but not reliable at all and generally not that great of quality either. Then, to this day I can't remember where I remembered the name from for sure, though I think it was through a friend at work, the name Graboid popped into my head. So I looked it up to see what it was, and low and behold it was the answer I had been looking for!

They offer a free account with a small amount of bandwidth you can use to test out there service, or if you don't watch much TV at all it might be enough to get you through a month, but it wasn't quite for me. It did allow me to become familiar with the service and take it for a short test drive and that was enough to sell me. I signed up for an account, they have a few different packages to choose from depending on how much you like sit in front of your TV, and used it for a month to see how it went. I absolutely loved it! I could get movies, all the TV shows I watched usually no later than the day after they aired (which is much quicker than services like Hulu), and just turn on whatever I wanted whenever I wanted!

A quick tip, I tried using the standard windows movie player, Windows Media Player, and had some issues, so I definitely recommend installing the VLC Player that they offer when you install the program, it works wonders and has never failed to play ANY video file I've opened in it, from DVD's to a CD a friend gave me with a homemade movie on it.

So in review, I've completely turned off my Cable Television Service, my DVD player has pretty much been rendered obsolete, and I watch everything that I want to, whenever I want to and pay a grand total of $14.99 a month for it. That's a winner in my book!

Keep an eye out for my next article on how to get your computer ready to work on your TV for anyone out there that is curious!
