The Best Movie theater for Best Friends - Entertainment - Movies

If you and your best friend are looking for a film to watch here is a list of the most fantastic movies for best friends. These are all movies that are meant to be shared together with best friends. Together you will laugh, cry and in the end your friendship will become stronger after watching these classic best friend movies.

These are my favorite best friend movies--but they are in no particular order.

Driving Miss Daisy

Based on the Pulitzer Prize winning play, this movie tells the warmhearted story of the companionship between an older Jewish woman in the 1960's and her African American driver over a 25 year span. The kinship that develops between these two strong willed personalities is at first unbelievably but over time each realizes they have more and more in usual. The woman played by Jessica Tandy teaches her driver, Morgan Freemen, how to read. And in return, he teaches her about growing old. The move is heartwarming and affecting.

Beaches

Beaches are considered by many to be the top best friend movie ever. It is the tale of enduring friendship between two women played by Bette Midler and Barbara Hershey. Not only do we fall in love with the character but also the tie and relationship that develops between them as friends. We see them start off as adolescents and as life unfolds they go through good times and bad, but in the end they are always there for each other. It shows a very naturalistic personalizing of love and complexities of female companionship. Better have lots of tissues prepared for this one.

My Girl

This is a funny and moving movie that has humor, courage and wit. It is the poignant and tender story about the friendship that develops between a boy and a girl, a first love and an untimely tragic death. The movie characteristic lots of big name stars including: Dan Aykroyd and Jamie Lee Curtis and the boy and girl, McCauley Culkin and Anna Chlumsky. When the Temptations classic song "My Girl" plays if that doesn't move you nothing will!

Thelma and Louise

This is the dramatic story and ultimate misadventure of two women who decide to throw all caution to the wind and take a spontaneous road trip. In the movie these two are more pals then best friends. Both girls are hard working but have had a series of broken relationships through their lives. Played by Geena Davis and Susan Sarandon, these two friends encounter a few unfortunate turns during their vacation that seem to parallel the events of their lives. It is not exactly a feel-good movie, but it does look at the challenges women face through their lives with an unexpected, thought provoking ending.

The Notebook

This is a wonderful and deeply moving story of lifelong love. It tells the tale of a young gentleman and women whose romance is brought to a halt when they are separated by war. The two are reunited later in life and are given a second opportunity. The great thing about this movie is that it is told looking back from the perspective of the now older man reading to a female friend. The movie features Ryan Gosling, Rachel McAdams, Gena Rowlands and James Garner whose love with each stands the test of time.

These are my personal favorites as best friend movies. They are perfect to be shared with a best friend. There are others once you have watched these half a dozen times. Don't miss The Bucket List, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, Forest Gump, Steel Magnolias, Fried Green Tomatoes and Grumpy Old Men.
